The Newark Saddler is an independent, working saddlery in the heart of Newark-on-Trent, run by saddler Harriet Haivers. Established in 1979, we have for over 45 years supplied, fitted and repaired English saddlery for riders and their horses across Nottinghamshire and beyond.
Ours is genuine equestrian leatherwork — saddles bought and sold, fitted properly and reflocked when they need it; bridlework made to order; and the everyday repairs to tack and rugs that keep good kit in service rather than thrown away. It is hands-on, traditional work, done with care and an honest eye for what a horse and rider actually need.
Saddle fitting that comes to you
A saddle is best assessed with the horse in front of you, which is why we offer mobile saddle fitting — travelling to your yard, by arrangement, to check and fit saddles where your horse is most relaxed. If you would rather visit us in Newark, you are very welcome; a quick call ahead is always wise.
More than saddles
Years at the bench have built up the skills for the more unusual jobs, too. As well as bespoke leather waist belts — including the extra-long sizes that are hard to find on the high street — we take on specialist repairs of unusual leather items, from gun slips to accordion cases and the like. If it is made of leather and needs mending, it is always worth asking.
